Aptly located in the Pullman Artist’s Playground, on the lobby floor of Pullman Dubai Creek (adjoined to City Centre Deira) is the t-Lounge by Dilmah. This invitingly cosy nook is surrounded by a gallery of local art that is updated on a monthly basis and on sale for art connoisseurs.
If you are a tea snob, this place is for you! As much as I love to glug my coffee to fuel me awake on stressful days, I have slowly but surely morphed into a tea drinker. My maternal side of the family will be proud! My grandfather, and my uncle after him dedicated their careers to the tea estates of Assam, the North Eastern state of India that has a repute for its strong blends and can be found in the elusive shelves with the likes of Harrods.
Dilmah is a well-known and loved Sri Lankan tea brand, and can be found across all major supermarkets, but to experience a high tea (or High-T as it’s called here) is an experience in itself.
The making of a cup of tea is an art-form, much like the beautiful works of art hanging on the walls of the Pullman Artist’s Lounge. You can sign up for a tea tasting session, and sniff and swirl brewed blends like a pro.
One of my favorites here was the Nuwara Eliya Afternoon Tea, a deep amber blend from the misty, scenic foothills of the Nuwara Eliya tea-estates of Sri Lanka. If you like a hint of mint in your tea, I would recommend their Moroccan Mint Tea blend.
The signature tea at the t-Lounge by Dilmah is their Blood Orange & Eucalyptus Iced Tea. Its icy cold, tangy and refreshingly delicious.
At the t-Lounge by Dilmah, you can also buy a range of beautiful tea-making tools like this set of pretty sand clocks to help you brew the blend to the strength you desire. They also have Dilmah branded teapots and collectible antique-style cups and saucers.
Interestingly, all the tea at their High-T is served in wine glasses.
As for the high-tea treats, Pullman Hotel has an award-winning pastry chef who keeps churning out brand new decadent desserts. It’s so hard to pick a favorite!
And keeping in tune with proper high-tea traditions, ours was made complete with absolutely delicious scones served with clotted cream and jam, and dainty little sandwiches including cucumber.
If you are a tea-lover, and looking for an artsy, relaxed space to get al dolled up with your girls (pinky finger up as you sip that tea my pretty!), book an idle afternoon at the t-Lounge by Dilmah at Pullman Dubai Creek City Centre. And as the hotel is connected to City Centre Deira, you can also hit the mall right after! Perfect girls day out don’t you think?!
